The Gen 2 Prius sold in Europe and Japan comes with a factory EV button to command the engine off under certain conditions.  North American models retain the software, just not the circuitry.  JDM (Japan Domestic Market) sells the original button and wiring harness. Upgrade your Prius to run in Electric Vehicle Mode.  This Original Toyota button will work in any 04-08 Prius and allow you to drive and accelerate up to 34mph in Electric Vehicle Mode.   Once the Prius battery gets low, the car will take control back and start your engine automatically.
